Agenda and VISION
My focus as senator would be less about my ideas and more about your concerns.
I am running for Junior Senator for the Class of 2019 with the purpose of improving the quality of life and encouraging greater class participation in SGA initiatives. My campaign is focused on the idea of promoting stress relief among the junior class with collective solutions. I want to build more collaboration among the class of 2019 and my goal is to make Middlebury a comfortable and enjoyable home for more groups of people in the junior class.
I want to implement simple and tangible ideas that would have a multiplying effect on making Middlebury a happier, healthier and less stressful place.
Do you have a tough time taking naps in the couches when you don't really have enough time to go back to your room until your next class?
STRESS REALLY NEEDS TO BE RELIEVED
There is already a "unplug and recharge" room in Davis Library. I want to add a massage chair and a napping pod/zone to this room, which only has some cushions right now. I also want to increase the number of these "recharge" areas around campus, which can also be very suitable for religious prayers needed to be performed daily by some of us in the community.
Don’t you get frustrated when you don’t have time to stay in a super long line because you have classes soon?
I want to add a semi-circular table in the dining hall that would have the popular meals, which will manage the efficiency of lines by breaking the linear fashion and changing it to a faster circular loop.
Do you feel like the quality of dining hall meals are not consistent?
I want to make a platform to rate meals which will be useful to make sure that meals not popular among the students isn't being served continuously. This rating system would ensure that better meals are being served, balanced in this spectrum of popularity, to ensure a better dining experience for everyone and also reduce food waste.
Do you feel that the dining halls need some variety of fruits and other snacks?
I also want to petition to add a larger variety of fruits and nuts in the dining hall so my classmates don’t have to go to the Mail Centre, Shaws, or Hannafords, just to get some snacks.
I’m all about implementing small simple, feasible ideas that would improve the daily quality of life for my classmates.
I am approachable and friendly, and as SGA Junior Senator, I will make it my mission to frequently engage in discussions with people on ideas that would add utility in our daily college life. I am not afraid of initiating a conversation with different staff members ranging from custodial and public safety to administration who would be concerned with bringing different suggestions from the class to reality. I believe this is one of my key strengths. I aim to voice the concerns of and to engage members of my class who need someone to listen and follow through with action and intent. I will use my responsibilities to make the SGA more receptive to concerns of the class of 2019.
